I have been running 6m Boxes for years I have gone through many changes and upgrades to the boxes from crane. I definite thing to check is if the red led light is blinking when you are trying to start the motor. You have to have someone back there or you and watch that light. If it is receiving a signal you will see it flicker. Sometimes hard to see in the daylight. Also BIG thing to check.!!!!! While some one is turning the motor over to start measure the voltage you are getting to the crane box on the big red wire - put a meter to it while starting. If I remember correctly if the voltage drops below 9 volts it will not send i signal to spark. You could have a bad connection, corrosion a bad wire somewhere dragging the voltage down. I know this because I spent 3 days testing mine until I found a some bad wire causing too much resistence and dragged my voltage down to 8.4 volts, the box would not fire. A few thoughts. if that's not it it may be the box has failed. Let us know.

If you use the crane hi-6 marine box, this is the wiring :
1 Heavy red positive
2 Black neg.
3 Orange & black coil
4 If using merc dist, use the red & green for the trigger& phase the rotor as stated this is for the hall effect signal.
5 Small red ignition? I'am at home, can't look at it.
If you want to use a Msd box and merc distributor you can.
Either use a V-6 mod. or V-8 mod. You need to go to msd web sight and use there wiring diagram or call them and they can tell you, I can't remember right now, and don't want to mislead you.
Randy,@ cobra told me back a while ago he had 6 of those Hyfires he was sending back, some problem, and they never told him about it, he wasn't very happy, if you know Randy .

there is a capacitor that msd sells to reduce noise that also can protect protect the 6m box against voltage spikes, my 6m has been completely reliable since msd tech recommended this add on about six years ago.
MSD Noise Capacitor, PN 8830
