Some of wiring in my boat is really messed-up. (Wrong colors junk connections) I changed the engine and now have lost my positive that went to the fuel pump. It is a 110 Mallory marine mounted to the floor. The neg. is a red wire going directly to the neg. bat. terminal. I will re-make that w/black wire. Where should the positive power come from for a pump? Is the ignition system wire good to steel power from? My background in automotive and we would steal power from the windshield wipers to achieve no power key- off, power key-on, and no-power during crank.

You really should have a relay wired up to the pump. You can use a 4 or 5 pin Bosch relay. Use the purple wire that powers up the ignition to turn on the relay. Then you can pull the power and ground straight from the battery and not from the ignition.
