I would definitely build a crate of some sort to prevent damage.

I've had a lot of success using R&L carriers. Prices have been very reasonable.

Hope this helps

I've used UPS for blowers, gimbles, uppers, lowers, ect. Box it up real real good. I would cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to fit the bottom of the box for ridgiditty. Packing peanuts to fill and pack tight. MOST IMPORTANTLY! Make sure it is drained and dry. If it leaks oil and is discovered they will impound for 1 day and dispose of it if not picked up. They won't deliver it if it leaked. It should ship for around $100. anywhere in lower 48.

PS we keep running into each other(24' Checkmate for sale)
