350 Mags with Whipples
Has anyone put Whipples on Merc 350 Mags (EFI's)?? Where did you buy them...cost...how much HP did you pick up etc.
Any info would be helpful. :drink: |
They make just over 500 hp and are a very nice addition to that engine. I have also done quite a few Prochargers on that engine and they turned out very good, making right at 500 hp. If I had my choice, I would take the Whipple, even though it is a bit more expensive.
Give me a shout and I can get a price for you. I am a dealer for both. Eddie |

We have also done quite a bit both units to the SBC & BBC as we are also a sales & installation facility.. The whipple is as stated a bit more money, but is a very nice kit in comparison & is much more robust & precise.. It is a very noticeable enhancement to the engine.. Night & Day difference.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside Restorations

JayFan, sounds like a fun winter project!:evilb:
Eddie and Jamie, I have the same boat as JayFan with the 6.2's. These engines only hold 4.5 quarts of oil. When adding a supercharger do you run a larger capacity pan and oil cooler? If so, what type? Thanks. Dave |
You are going to need to run an oil cooler. If you run a large one like we offer & install on our jobs it will add some oil capacity. Also if you did do a custom pan the extra oil wouldnt be a bad thing.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

A larger oil cooler is neccessary with such a small pan. While a larger pan is a nice addition, it is not imperative. If you do not change the pan, then keeping up with the oil changes is very important. I recommend every 10 hrs for an oil change. It is cheap insurance. As stated, the larger cooler will add almost a quart in capacity.

Also depending on how you are / will rig you can sometimes go with a larger oil filter which can sometimes increase your capacity as well.. Also I agree with Eddie, the frequent oil changes are cheap insurance.. I might add that also using the best oil possible is also a good idea.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside

A guy locally bought a 292 with T6.2's and prochargers. Like my 500's, he had fuel curve/delivery issues and recently removed them. I'd take the advice of the guys here and go with Whipples or nothing. The boat did run mid 80's but he was filling his crank case with gas every couple hours.

So top speeds with the Whipples..is about 85????
