The stock valve covers should work. You will need to grind off the oil drip tabs on the inside of the valve covers.

OK I met Eddie Young from Young Performance Marine in Murfeesboro this eve. Left the heads in his care.He agreed that a 1050 Dominator would be the best choice as did the majority of you. Still not exactly sure which pullies to run to acheive 5 psi??? I need a single carb adapter and a 1050 if anyone can help pm me. I have a dual adapter with 2 750 holleys I need to get rid of. Thinking of going with a gen VI roller cam Any suggestions??? Just updating the progress.
Thanks Gus

Crane 731 should work well. I used it as an upgrade on my 525SC. Same cam specs, just a different number now.

I assume its a gen 4.I had a 1989 365 mag blower motor also.In the stock bottom end I ran it at 767hp for years with no problems.I would Just put a hyd roller ,it will be cheaper that route also.Ive been hearing good stuff on Bob Madeira, making extra HP compared to off the shelf cams.

If ya get to crazy with the cam youll be tunning alot!!

Comp cam has a cam just like the 741,The problem I saw with the gen 6 741 is it has to much over lap,I see blow thru/low port velocity on mine. But its stock ported heads also.

If ya call a cam company for tech help, talk to 3 different tech's All 3 will give ya a diff #

Griff I wonder if its the same Crane cam core, ramp rate etc??
