I ONLY use Total Seal Gapless (TS1) rings. Cylinder wall finish is extremely important. You have to finish the cylinders with a plateau hone for them to seal correctly.
I am not sure about the Hellfire rings since I have never used them. The problem I have seen with todays harder rings is that although they seat very easily, if they do not seat immediately, they will never properly seat.

also while we are on the ring seat deal....some oils used in break-in can cause the rings not to seat properly as well...some synthetics are bad on break in well....I always beak in with rotella then switch to syn after about 10 hours...Rob

I had oil shooting out of my dipstick also. Now I have the EMI valve covers with the breather stacks on each side. A lot of other places make them also, CP Perf, Dana, ect.. This solved my problem. I am not sure about yours. Good Luck!!
