Default TRS Outer Transom Bolt Lengths?

I bought a TRS outer transom assembly for an upgrade over my salt water corroded one.

Looking at the one that came off and the one going on i see a slight difference.

The one on the boat had 2 1/4" long bolts that the outdrive bolted on.

The newer one has them at 4 1/4" long.
So it looks like i will have to cut them down to 2 1/4" and thread them also.

Anyone know why?

Thanks SHU

Are you talking about the bellhousing/drive helmet bolts(6 of them)?? If you are I dont see it being to easy to cut and tap six s/s 1/2" studs. I would see if you can get the old studs out of the old bell housing. Try a little heat and double nut some grade 8 nuts to studs, should be screwed into the bell and loctited.
