To Balance or not to balance

I scrambled one of my engines and I am going to have to install new pistons and rods. I am going to install new speedpro pistons and manley billet rods.

I know this set up should be balanced, but budget is getting tight and I am planning on 572 in the next couple of years.

Is it stupid to concerned put this engine back together with out balancing the rotating assembly?

Thanks

I believe that if you don't do it right, it will cost you down the road.

don't think it would be a good idea, maybe be able to just match the old rods/pistons weights...Rob

I pay only a couple hundred $$$ to get the complete assembly balanced, cheap insurance I think.

Cig,
Have your machine shop weigh the old parts and the new ones. If by some miracle both ends of the rods and the piston and pin weigh within a few grams of your old parts, you should be ok. Otherwise you need to rebalance the crankshaft to match the weights of the new parts.
