Default merc 94 5.0 vs 2006 5.0 long block?

I'ev got a 94 Merc 5.0 4 bbl now that's tired. Have an opportunity to get a 2006 5.0 long block 60 hrs cheap. Any one know if my old 4bbl manifold will bolt right on? Are these new Vortec syle and different enough to need an aftermarket intake? Would the intake to head angle be different, dist drive, balancer, anything? The 06 5.0 EFI stuff is long gone.

You will need to get a new vortec intake, most of the newer 5.0 have a 2v crab or their multi port efi..Ive never done a 5.0 conversion, i usually go with the 5.7 330 hp sbc that Chevy sells that worked out perfect! If you decide to go this route you need to install a lifter valley baffle to keep the oil from splashing on the intake,if you have a roller cam you need to modify it..

Thanks for the reply. I figured these are the new Vortec heads but could not confirm yet. I have the stock rochester 4bbl so that would fit the spread bore on edlebrock. Interesting on the splash shield -would not have thought of that one. I think all outside accessories will still bolt up the same too.
