Sounds like your going after that rough idle. Unless your going dry to the tips you'll for sure have reversion issues. Those Thumper cams were pretty much designed for the old muscle cars with little to no other good guy parts needed to achieve that desirable rough idle (King Of The Drive In). If you look at the seat timing and the tight lobe sep it's a given those cams are for one thing and one thing only, for the most part. You can get much better performance and still achieve that idle with other choices. I'll be the first to admit I like a nasty sounding cam also but I won't give up performance or a chance of reversion for it.
If you spend most your time idling and go dry all the way to the tips and aren't looking for max performance = go for it. At the very least it will be a crowd pleaser anyway.
Good luck.

I shouldn't have made the statement about the performance without knowing first hand. After doing a google search it sounds like those cams make decent power also. Once again I don't know this first hand as I have never used one. Hopefully you'll be able to talk to someone who has. It really boils down to what your looking for. I know of a guy down state who I think has used them and I will get in touch and let you know. I know it's easy to just say call rmbuilder however I don't think that's the answer your looking for. Bob certainly knows his cams but I think what your looking for is if someone has first hand knowledge of rather than to tell you what to do and I can appreciate that. I'm even a little curious myself.
If you do decide to go another route certainly call Bob or Dean or at the very least do your research and find what works and what doesn't work for your application.
