Water pick ups????

I have a 2001 Bravo low water pick up (only), on my double stepped 26ZX, I am looking for alternative ideas. I saw a rig this weekend that had drive AND transom pickups into a strainer then motor. He draws more draft and never has the problems I do.
I have found a couple websites with thru hull pick ups but none that go on the back of the transom like the ones I saw this weekend.

Any ideas, websites? Photo of what you run would be greatly appreciated guys. I am tired of sucking the muck and sand at low water in the channels, or when ready to leave the beach up.

And if you have an even better design I am open to all ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Bryan

Check out Gaffrig I know they used to make them and they look nice. Ther are a bunch of them out there so you just have to look at the ones you like the best. They are a easy make as well but last I looked they are cheap enough.

Interesting thing I saw this week on KWB's boat was that one of the marina's out in Florida had scoloped his bottom so that the water flows into the tube better and they can that way raise up the tube for less drag I am guessing????

IMCO water pickup for all cooling needs. The Low water drive pickup is dumped.

Hey Bryan,

What's the deal with needing more water? I did hear of a person who put a procharger on their 26ZX and had to add a nosecone/low water pickup set up to get the flow needed over 80 mph.

I live 15 minutes from Livorsi Marine (Gaffrig) and have his latest catalog. I just looked through it and all I can find are pitot tube assemblies for the speedo. I will give Livorsi a call tommorrow and post a reply on this thread.

Good Luck - Happy Boating

ToddW, YOU PMESSAGE BOX IS FULL!!!!
Great shot, thanks, that is what I am looking for, very similar to the set up on my friends boat! IMCO uh? I will start surfing for one tomorrow.
Would it be to much to ask how you rigged it and maybe another great photo? I really do appreciate you replying. I plan to invest and do it right the first time!
Do you run a strainer too?
I am just tired of the hassle. Low water only pick ups suck, I am over mine.
There is better technology than the set up I have, and $ is no object on this matter.
Thanks a bunch.

26ZX, ring me or email me your number, too lengthy to explain here at the moment. I have a very long shift tomorrow, off to bed. Great hearing from you and stay in touch!

PFM manufactures transom water pickups. They are located in California.

Bryan,
I added the IMCO pickup after whipplecharging the boat. Per Dustins recommendations I added the p/u to supply all water needs for th engine and intercooler. The original drive had only side pickups. The new drive has only the low water p/u. I installed a water block off plate inside the transom and cut the hose outside the gimble allow cooling water to flow through the drive when in motion.

ToddW, type boat/hull do you have?
Is there a reason why you used that location and not more toward the centerline?

I am still reading and trying to get smart, I am also considering a full closed loop cooling system. I think I have plenty of clearance for one, plan to do a search here on them.
Thanks.

26 Eliminator. It should not interfere with the water flowing to the prop. Thats why it is offset.

ToddW

have you had any problems with your drive? Do you run a drive shower? I was planning to do the same thing with my LWP Bravo but was worried about water flow around idle speeds.

My repair shop is searching for a side pickup case but that's more expensive.
