502mpi 470hp??

I am looking at a 2000 Forumla Fastech 271 that has a factory untouched, unrebuilt 502mpi motor that is blue. The intake is the standard 502mpi manifold the intakes from the starboard side as opposed to the one on the 500efi that intakes pointing directly forward? Does anyone know what this motor is? I can't find any mention of a 470hp 502

Sounds like 502MPI/415hp that was painted blue. How do you know it was not touched or rebuilt?????? Does it still have the factory wire seals in place??????

The 500EFI's are 470hp at the prop.

The people who are selling the boat had it listed incorrectly. Their paperwork from the dealer they bought it from had 470hp listed as the horsepower on the engine. They are they original owners and have never done anything to the engine. I have never seen one with this intake in blue?? Any suggestions?

The picture in the craigslist link sure looks like a 502MPI that someone changed the flame arrestor and painted the intake blue, or installed an aftermarket intake. It has the standard 502 MPI exhaust manifolds and looks mostly like a 502 MPI (415 hp), including the tall oil fill that was on the stock 502MPI. 2000 was the first year for the 500EFI and that is not a 500EFI ! The only other 470 hp stock Mercury 502 would have been the HP500, which was carbureted, so its definitely not that, either. I think someone has been mis-informed. Looks like they did a nice paint job on the intake, though.

Looks like they just painted the intake plenum blue, and also installed a set of VC off an HP500. Anyways, 502/415 hp is the motor.

Ok that's kinda what I figured. I searched the internet high and low looking for pictures or mention of a blue motor with that intake and came up with nada! Thanks for the help, looks like my shopping continues.

Its a 502MPI 415hp. I think some came through with that blue intake, it seems to me I have seen that before someplace. Certainly an aftermarket flame arrest though.
