Sea pump mounted fuel pump?
 
when using the merc sea pump with the fuel pump mounted to it is there any option for a high performance fuel pump that will fit it?

I got the KE billet lower from CP Perf a couple seasons ago, and it works fine so far.

As Old Navy said, the KE replacement unit is a nice piece. If your wish is to replace the entire assembly, well then it's time to break out the penny jar, err dollar jar, errrrr hundred dollar jar. CV products is pricey but the finest of the finest. Made for the Merc sea pump unit.

Sorry for the old post resurrection.

Is the Keith Eickert the only option available for a sea pump mounted, mechanical fuel pump upgrade now?

The original plan was to use a block mounted fuel pump. (Baker style) I was told it didn't fit with the sea pump mounted, so we dyno tested it (made 600 HP) with the stock fuel pump installed. Obviously it worked, but I'm still nervous about running low on fuel.

It was recommended that I run 1/2" pick up tube in the tank. So I did.... Using AN -10 fittings and 5/8" hose to the water separator. Then AN -8 fittings and 1/2" hose to the fuel pump. The problem is, the fuel pump uses 1/4 NPT fittings IN and OUT.

It doesn't make any sense to me to run 1/2" or larger fuel hose to the pump, when it only has 1/4" opening. So I've been looking up old posts for upgraded sea mounted fuel pumps. CV no longer makes a marine version. And the KE pump seems to have mixed opinions on it's performance.

I'm not opposed to going electric fuel pump, I just don't know enough about them and wiring it up. It's easier to keep it simple and just replace the OEM with something that has larger openings and better flow.

My set up is the new GEN 5 block. It has all the benefits of GEN 5 with a block mounted fuel pump option.

Fighting a similar issue. Mine keep leaking fuel into the sea pumps and blowing the seals. I am in the process of converting to electric but exploring all options first. I made a call to Teague yesterday and they said the merc pumps should not be failing and it is likely the fuel I am using is causing them to fail prematurely. I have no other symptoms of bad fuel, so I am not all in on that idea, unless ValveTech is corrosive to mechanical fuel pumps.

Side question, i’ve asked before an no takers - there are oils like vr1 and shaffers + others that are designed at holding a decent ant of fuel dilution and still do their job. Anyone use ouls like this vs gear oil for the sea pump mounted mech pumps ? I wonder if it would be better ?
