Default Engine Hatch?

I have an engine hatch motor that sounds like normal but wont lift the hatch. I can lift the hatch all the way open by hand. It went up and down just fine then just quit the next time I tried to raise the hatch. Any ideas?

It will sound like that if the solenoid valves in the unit aren't working/connected. Check all the wiring. It's not just the motor itself that needs juice to make it all work.

oops, then I read the whole post. If the valves aren't opening, then you shouldn't be able to lift it by hand.

Could it be that the unit is low on fluid or needs to be bled?

Im guessing its electric on a baja outlaw. These electric lifts need amps to make them work good. Over time the wires get corrosion, and the long small gauge wires simply cannot carry enough current from the bilge, to the dash, then back to the motor. By adding a relay/solenoid, you are taking the wire that powers the lift, and using that as a trigger wire to activate the relay, which then powers the lift motor with good power/amps.

I would install one of these.

You can make up your own, using relays or solenoids too.
