Default engine cuts out momentarily when hitting hard waves...

Just as the title says, engine is cutting out when hitting waves hard. I've checked all power and ground connectiions, all ignition wiring and kill switch...

Got any ideas?

On a hp 500 carb it can be the coil. They way they are mounted causes issues.

Any way to check, and what do you need to do to fix the mounting?

Coils are cheap. Just get a new one. You really cannot test them in real world conditions.

Personally I would double check all connections in the path for the ignition. Another slight possibility is the float level in the carb is not perfect and when you jar the boat, you might be causing a momentary lack of fuel or a shot of too much.

I have run into the same thing before and I found the nut loose on the back of the 50 amp breaker.

You double checked the large engine wiring harness plug with the hose clamp on it? Seen those come loose and do same as yours is.

I had the same problem with the Nova When I first got it. The Port motor would cut in and out bad in higher seas. I finally got so pissed one day I punched the dash with my fist in the channel and it did it again. Turns out the ignition switch was bad. But on the trailer in the driveway it worked perfect.
