Well, I hung the transom assembly last night. The problem is that I cannot get it to properly align with the bearing. The with the bearing loose, the shaft will slide in-but it's stiff. If you tighten the bolts holding the bearing, the shaft will only slide in 1/2 an inch before binding. What I'm noticing is that the bearing needs to rotate upwards to align with the shaft. It's as if the engine side is too low-even though transom side is correctly aligned. Anybody know how on earth to properly shim this thing?

When I put mine on I put the alignment shaft in before
I tightened down the gimble assy on the back of the box
and was able to move it around to get a nice fit without
messing with the bearing. I dont know if you did this but
if not it may help.

That's how mine was. There is just enough play/slop in the gimble bolt holes to move it slightly and get a better alignment for when the drive is attached.
For those of us with Stellings boxes I am finishing up on a strain guage which attaches to the boxes flange shaft and will measure real time TQ and HP while on the fly. It will display on a digital display or to a 270 degree sweep analog Nordskod guage. Any interest for an On-Board-Dyno?

Yep, that's the way I was doing it too. But with the bearing assembly needing to be tilted to align, things were never going to work out. Currently, the gimble is very close to the correct location, and because I had lock-tite on the bolts, I was forced to torque it down.
