Default Bravo 1 bearing installation

This is my first boat with a bravo drive. I just put a new gimbel bearing in. Can someone tell me should I have about a 1/2 inch space behind it?Or should it go all the way in with no space? The way it is now.I can put my finger through the center of the bearing.Even space all the way around.I had nothing to go by. Bearing was not in boat when I got it.

Drive it all the way in until it stops, make sure you line up the greece hole and make sure the seeal is still in tact before the bearing..

I have the sealed prelubed bearing. So it should go all the way in to the back wall of housing? No space at all behind it?

Wow I have not heard of a sealed gimbal bearing. Interesting, more money for Merc when they fail.

I just tore mine apart tonight to replace the bellows and bearing and remembered this question. There is approx a
3/4" shoulder behind the bearing when it is seated in the bore and the seal. So if you are questioning the space between the bearing and the seal, yep, there's a space. You should also see approx 1/4" of the bore with the bearing seated
