BBC oil pump
whats the difference between melling 10770 and 10778? I currently have the 10778c anti-cav pump and my dyno guy recommended changing it out to a 10770 but I cant find any. But from what I have read the 10770 and 10778 and similar, cant find any differences. Thanks in advance.

30,
Just looking at the descriptions on Mellings web site it appears to me that the pump you have now is a better pump than the 10770. Look about half way down the page.

If you want to be certain, wait until Monday and call George at Melling Tech and ask his advice. Would be interesting to see what he says.
As far as availability on the 10770, where have you tried ?

I was always under the impression the 77 was the standard HV pump. the 78 has extended oil pump shafts that go down into the bottom plate, stabilizing the gears better.... it also has the anti cav. plate...
I opted for the 78 on my last rebuild.
