My guess also but you'd think he would have noticed this when the intake was off. He should see the cracks above lifter galley and under the head or heads near the water jackets. I would bet this is the problem. That seems like an awfull lot of water to be anything else. Lets hope not though.

Wow a damn intake gasket, and filled motor with water and no damage found, were putting in new bearings and clean all up and back together, hope to be on the water for the long weekend.

if it was a intake gasket, you need to run right out and buy a lottery ticket !!!

All new bearings done all back together and going in the boat today ill post after i get it fired up.

well... considering the fact that an intake gasket sees no stress and is only a sealing surface , and the likelyhood of getting a defective one is about 1 trillion to one, i think i would want to know the precise reason why it failed to seal before i just threw it back together...

Well run motor for over 1 hour on hose last nite all is great and ready to go guess i dodged a bullet.
