I am seriously kicking around the idea of building/buying a floating boathouse for my cottage, has anyone ever used/built one? I have head a lot of good things about them and wondered if they where available as a "kit" or if there was anyone on the board here that built them? Any input would be appreciated!

LOL! I am actually looking for a "boat house", NOT a "house boat"! I have heard a few people claim its MUCH easier to get permits, etc for a floating boathouse as opposed to a "permanant" boathouse. I guess because "technically" they aren't permanant, the styles I have seen use 2 long floating "tubes" like you would see on a river barge and then they build the boathouse on top of it, float it into your dock/shoreline and secure it, and your all set. I just need to get a little more info about them.

Michael, there is a floating boathouse across the river from you in Millens bay. It is the boathouse with the green roof.
