Trim Tab Size Question
I am looking to add some tabs to my Velocity 260 (24' hull). I am looking to go with Lenco Electric Tabs. The boat has a 496 mag. The boat is supposed to be capable of around 70 MPH, however I have only seen around 67ish. My primary need for tabs is to help planing off. Once up on plane the boat runs pretty level. I have quite a bit of weight with the addition of 2 extra batteries weighing around 70 each. I usually run the boat around 45-50 mph. What size do you guys recommend. Also with the "pad" bottom, where should I mount the tabs. I have seen them mounted parallel to the pad and have seen them outward mounted on an angle matching the rest of the hull. What would be the advantage and disadvantage of each setup?

I am also looking to buy a set of tabs for my single engine Hunton 28 and am also considering Lenco's, (The High Performance Dual Ram 21'' x 14''), so I too would like answers to the same questions. My logic for using the 21 x 14's is that they are the nearest size to a 280 k-plane which is 18'' x 14''. Can you 'over tab' a boat or is it better to go large rather than too small? Does anybody know how reliable the Lenco tabs are? I have reservations about submerging the actuators in water.

I have 280 K-planes on my '24. I use them to keep the nose down in rough water, I don't really need them to plane.
They can cavitate the prop or cause some "bow steer" if they are run too low. Although, I don't need to run them much below neutral very often.

I ended up going with 18x14 Lenco Tabs as seen below. I just got them mounted today, and will be wiring tomorrow. The idea of no hydraulic pumps and ease of installation is why I went electric.

Ive gone for the Lenco's too - the dual ram 21''x14''. They are probably over tabbed but I dont think it will matter, afterall they look well cool. I dont like the protruding anode bolt head on the running surface of the plate (its appears very much an after thought) so I am tapping an 8mm thread into the plate and grinding a bolt flush with the running surface instead. Should have been done this way in the first place. I hope they are reliable!! Let you know.

SO far mine have made a HUGE difference. Boat planes off in 3 seconds and rides like a caddy compared to before. I will most likely remove the anode all together as my boat is only in the water a few hours at a time.
