What is the better engine, BPM or Crusader.
I am about to bay a European Classic Boat :
the Monte Carlo Offshorer. There is normally two 350 HP Crusader engines in this boat, but there are also a few with two 350 hp BPM engines.
Does any of you have any experience or opinions regarding what is the better engine?
(or general comments about quality of these to motor brands?)
Regards John

Hi John,
I own an 84 offshorer with rebuilt 454 crusaders on bpm inversors.
If you have the opportunity, I would advise you to come down for a few days in st tropez - on any single day you may see 10 to 20 offshorer and speak with their owners or the yards.
next to my boat is one with bpms, I understand that this specific one at least, despite being quicker is much more thirsty and much less reliable than mine.
if you speak french you can call the yeard which takes care of both my boat and the other one (as well 3 others): it is called yachting maintenance in st tropez.
best,
pierre
