Default hp 500 carb leaking at throttle shaft

I just bought a 98 25 outlaw with hp 500 in it. The dealer had rebuilt the carb and said it needed to be adjusted. After adjusting and getting the idle set i noticed gas drippes from the throttle shaft when you shut the motor off. I am new to marine engines but from what i read marine carbs are suppose to have seals shfts to prevent leaking if carb floods.

I was thinking about replacing carb with a 850 sea demon or a 825 mighty demon.

Any suggestions on what carb to use or should i try to fix the holly 800 that is on the motor.

I am changing valve springs on motor so would like to fix carb at same time

if its leaking there, it's flooding, either floats need to be adj(most likley) or needle/seat sticking...there are a sight plug to ck float level, get someone to ck this....

that is what i thought it was. So i adjusted floats today fuel level is just below sight holes. Didnt check the condition of needle and seat cause it was just rebilt. But it is still leaking.

I had the same problem this season. Dont buy a new carb. Change out both needle and seats then readjust the floats. The carbs are not sealed on the shaft, they are just like an auto carb there.

Ok, i readjusted floats today. Primary float was to high lowered it and no more fuel leak. Now throttle cable needs adjusted wont idle down till you push the linkage on carb by hand.
