I use a extension cord reel for my rope.

Is it true you need no chain when using a box anchor? That alone is enough reason to buy/use one, but I dunno if I trust it.

The primary reason for a chain on any anchor is for the weight as it lays on the bottom and causes the rope to pull on the anchor at a low angle. The box anchor does not require this to set the anchor. The box anchor has an arm to tie to. I have been using one now for about four years tied direct to the arm on the anchor and it works great.

But a dan forth with some chain is HARD TO BEAT.

plus my anchor locker up front is set up for a dan forth.
