Help! Sneezing and popping coming on to plane.

Are there any carb experts out there? Lately my boat has been sneezing and popping while coming on to plane. I have added mufflers and think that is part of the problem, but it also does it without them. The boat runs mint at idle and once the props break free coming on to plane it runs great. If I push the throttles forward very slowly and bring it on to plane very slowly it will not do it, if I try to give it a little more gas to soon it happens, sneezing, popping, somtimes the motor will die and have to be restarted. The motors are 600cu in naturally aspirated will 1050 Dominater carbs.

I am no expert but start with checking the accelerator pumps and while apart a good general cleaning. The 1050 is not a complicated carb. Do you have fuel pressure gauge?

Hey Tazz, I had the same issues, along with a few other problems. I would start by checking the accelerator pumps. Is it sneezing through the carb? I went up to bigger squirters, and my planing problem was solved. I had 31's, increased them to 50's.

I got a ton of great info last week in this thread...

Yes it is sneezing through the carb. Before I change anything I'm going to check the timing, the engine builder took a few degrees out to try and keep it "safe" because of the fuels these days. The timing, along with the mufflers are all I can remember changing.
