zero effort shifter cable installation
 

How do I connect my cables to the zero effort throttle/shifter? I have 33c cables and I do not see how they connect. Where I would think the cables should attach there is only a pin that goes through the bottom of the shift lever. Am I missing something? Any tips?

Yeah I have been wondering the same thing. Can some one post a pic of the actual 33c cable end that I need.

Well I'm not the only one.... This is frustrating, when I ordered my cables from Eickert they said I didn't need anything. There has to be some sort of adaptor as I see no way to get that treaded end in and secured.

If you follow this link and look in the picture an #40 I'm taking a stab in the dark that this is the cable connection. However there is no part number for it?

I see that your using the same trim switch that I am.. are you going to run the wires inside or outside... I have mine inside now but I'm afraid they may jam something.

I just took mine apart. Apparently you must knock out the pins and use the standard cable ends. I will just make some at work. 10-32" thread

Those are for the shifter and the carb. I have that package. I think #40 in that diagram is our missing link!

That's the Basstard!!

You need the #40 connector. It is actually a hook, not a loop. You leave those pins in place, hook the pin and then secure the cable at the bottom. As long as the cable is secure, the hook will stay in place as the cable basically pulls in a straight line. Here is a better parts list from Mercruiserparts.com . #40 is listed there (and not cheap :eek: )

good grief that's a rip off! Thanks for the better parts list... Looks like I need to go to the marina and order more parts tomorrow!
