As Mr Fixx said, use a dial indicator. Some adjusters have different thread pitches (7/16 stud has 20 tpi and a Jesel shaft rocker has like 28 tpi) 1/2 turn on one does not equal a 1/2 turn on another. I look for .040-.050 past 0 lash. Some lifters call for up to .060, but it is not common. It should come down to between 1/2-3/4 turn for your setup. Good luck.
