valve lash
 

so i did a search and found nothing.... i need to adjust my crower hydralic roller lifters...... when i first finished the motor i did 1/2 turn lash.... the reason im asking is my tuner and i went to the lake today and we heard a rocker noise. he asked what i adjusted the rockers to and i said 1/2 turn lash.... he told me to adjust it to 1 1/2 turn lash. hes a respected engine builder also. The problem i have is everybody else i talk to says thats way to much, and might bottom out the lifter. Any help would be helpful. thanks

Seems like too much. Zero plus half is what I do.

I'm no expert so maybe someone else will chime in.

Most aftermarket hyd roller lifters are comfortable at 1/8-1/4 turn past zero lash. It is possible to adjust them more than that but not recommended on most. Factory roller lifters on the other hand are ok to adjust at up to one full turn.
It is possible, on initial startup, with aftermarket lifters adjusted loose like that (1/8-1/4 turn) to hear a little noise. But it usually goes away pretty quick when the oil pressure comes up.
Most hyd roller setups are pretty trouble free when it comes to adjustments. However it is always a good idea to check them every season or so to make sure nothing is coming apart prematurely especially with a rather large cam.

I was thinking of adjusting it to 3/4 turn but the jury is stil out..... Anybody else that could give me anymore info would be great

what brand are your lifters? contact the manufacurer. you will be better off to call and get the right settings than to just take a shot in the dark. If not that, then I would listen to the guy's here, there is a whole lot of builders on this site.

i would call the manufactor and ask them but 1 1/2 is an awful lot. in my experience most are happy at 1/4 to 1/2 turn past zero lash. too far and you can hang a valve open or bust the lifter

Crower calls for 1/4 to 3/4 turn.... I went with 1/2 turn the first and it loosened up... So I adjusted them to 3/4.... Any other thought on the subject

I always go with 3/4 and have never had any problems. My current ones have been there for 10 years with out ever being readjusted.

thats to much, just got back over them now...you will find a loose one or two...1/2 turn is fine

get out your dial indicator and do it this way, you will know for sure your at the bottom of the base circle this way and i like to set them @ .025 but .050 is okay too which = 1/2 a turn...its not good to compress them more then .100 or they turn into mechanical lifters,,if it were to ever pump up the valve will kiss the piston..
