-starts fine, ran good for a while, took a hard turn, cut out a little.
-I went 6-8 miles in the morning, midrange miss on and off, good at full speed.
-In the afternoon cruised about 5 miles, same thing, then started cutting out really bad and lost power, motor died.
-I let it set for a few minutes, started right up, idled back to dock.
-Afterwards I would get to speed,30 seconds, same thing.
-I pulled the fuel filter today, a little bit of sediment, but seemed to be OK.
-I have had same problem, intermittent for 3-4 years, and its about to drive me crazy.
-HELP!!!

In my 72, the gas tank was steel and began to corrode from the inside. The pick-up would keep grabbing pieces as demand went up until it would stumble or die. After shutting it off for a minute, it would start right up again. Pretty common in the boats from that year. I replaced the tank with an alum. one. There's plenty of info and pics of what it takes to pull off the deck and change the tank at both donzi.org and donzi.net.
