Water in my Imco ext. box....
Any one else ever get water in their extension boxes......I was checking my oil the other day and could see that they are filled right up to the bottom of the outdrive cutout in the transom.........I suspect it is coming in through the Imco access panel cap, so I ordered all new seals and will replace this weekend........any one else ever see this happening....??

I have seen it in every extension box. It is really easy for water to get in there washing the bilge, etc. so it may not be leaking. I always drill and tap the bottom of the box and install a drain plug. Drill and tap it for 1/2" npt plug. Then you can drain it every now and then to keep the water out. Good luck.

I feel so lucky. My Stellengs boxes are dry. The access panels are above the water lins when sitting still so I'm lucky there and I guess the box to transom and gimble to box seals are good too. Hurray! Still a great idea about the drain plugs. There is alot of spin off greese from the carrier bearings in the box that will need to be cleaned and de greesed.
