Remote mercruiser oil filter mounting
 

I recently purchased some sst mercruiser risers to delete the rust cast iron mercruiser risers. However, this prevents mounting of the oil filter unless I use a spacer on a long stud on the port side of each motor. I'd rather avoid this and mount the oil filter to the transom. Is there a good billet alternative out there to do this. It would make the engine compartment cleaner looking.

Just get a piece of 1.5-2" inch aluminum angle iron and cut it to size and drill the holes. I used actual steel and painted it and it worked fine as well, but in a salt water environment, I would use aluminum.

In was thinking to do that, but wondered if something out there already existed before busting out my hacksaw. I would expect this to be a $15 item in Hardin marine! It'll cost me $15 in raw material at home depot. Seriously, aluminum is priced like gold at home depot, what gives?... My wallet!!

Yep, they have a lot of stuff. I ordered some aluminum plate from them and they had the lowest price I could find online.

I had to move my filter as well. I also fabed a bracket and went with paint (actually powder coat but I had other stuff being done so I through it in with that stuff). I know when I raised mine to clear the new exhaust, my lines were too short. I had to tig a few inches into the stock oil line. I would have just made a new line but ran into a problem on the stock oil cooler fitting. The stock oil cooler had a double flared fitting and I couldn’t get a single flare to seal on the cooler?
