Backflush again, making sure ALL the parts are out. When replacing the impeller, use some vasaline to help lubricate it on startup, and double check to make sure the impeller is set to spin the correct way. A buddy of mine set the impeller on his boat to spin the wrong way ( inserted it by twisting it the wrong way)it ate itself instantly.

I would pull the water hose at the ps cooler (if you have ps on that motor) or oil cooler. Typically you find all the impeller chunks in the first heat exchanger and you won't necessarily get the out by back flushing. Don't rev you motor past 2000 rpm on the hose or you will replacing the impeller again.
