Bye Bye Blowers

Have 500hp bulldogs with 250 B&M Blowers and all internal components set for blowers but want to get back to Natural Aspirated Power and want to stick with the 600+hp if possible. Oh yeah! pretty tired of buying 93+ octane too!!! Whats the best way to get there product wise. Oh, and the whole Blower setup is for Sale. The port was rebuilt by SuperCharge America with 20-25 hrs total and the Star. was just done over the winter by the Blower Shop with 5-7 hrs on it, both are polished. Thanks Speed

Change the pulleys for less boost.

Even if I had 330 HP BBC I would still run 93 octane, for the few pennys more per gal you have that extra bit of protection. Gas cheap, engines not.

Well, thinking of 89 octane at the marina not trailering to the station. No, I just don't want the blowers anymore. Don't get me wrong they are a thing of beauty and great in crowds when you open the hatch but just want back to good old fashion HP. .....

i am guessing thoses 250,s were pretty thristy.were you running dual quads or a domanator?

No Single Carb. too much tweeking with Dual. Not really that bad on fuel cruising range mostly. You know the wife thing.

I don't get it? If you have 500hp and add a 250 blower single carb you get approx 625 hp, you want 600+ hp natural, your gonna spend lots of $$$ and pull the engine appart. Also 93 will be a must and fuel consumption will be the same Your wife just doesn't like blowers? Save the cash and tell her to blow you:drink:

If you go with aluminum heads you might be able to make 600hp on 89 octane with the 540ci/500 Bulldogs that you have. Keep the comp ratio down to around 9.0-9.25 and timing around 32* and make sure to dyno them with 89 octane fuel and watch the AFR's and EGT's.

540-565 cu in decent heads, 9-1 comp good cam 1050carb no problem..
