496ho electronic throttle & shift problem

I have a 2004 496 ho with smartcraft and electronic shift & throttle . I am getting alarm and smartcraft says ESC timeout . Anyone know what that means and what might be the cause , Thanks

JUst a guess, Im sure others know more...

Im guessing ESC is electronic shift control and a time out would be a signal was sent but wasnt acknowledged

I received this error once, happened yesterday. 2006 496 HO. Nothing seemed wrong. Shut down engine, turned off starting battery switches, restarted, all seems fine. Anyone have any info on this?
