Best Carb intake
I am currently rebuilding my motor and I am wondering if the intake I have is the correct one for my application. I have a 24Python that had a Gen 4 468 with a solid lift cam, worked big valve oval port heads on the intake side to match the holley dominator single plane intake, and a 850 demon carb. I never ran this moto so I don't know how good the set up was. I am building a 454 Gen 6 hoping for a .40 overbore with dome forged piston, scat I beam 4.000" rods, cast GM crank, a Hydraulic roller cam shaft (size to be determined after all machine work is done camfrom RMBuilder) and new valve springs on big valve oval port heads. I am hoping for around 9.3-9.5 CR and run a max of 5200 rpm's. I have the dominator intake but I think it will hurt the performance. Should I keep the holley dominator intake or get a dual plane design? Which intake would you recommend?

4.000 rods i think you may have the wrong measurements because a stock rod is 6.185,alternative may be a 6.385 with the rite pistons..i would look for another crank and the intake,,theirs another one like the airgap by professional products called the crosswind, soppose to have slightly longer runners and is 100 bucks cheeper..http://www.professional-products.com...uctBBchevy.php

Why only 5200??? If you are spending the money and building it right, which it sounds like you are, why not use all available HP? If the engine dyno's and makes power @ 5800. My 468's run nearly 6250RPM, but the dyno said it made power there.

BTW, I would run the single matched intake first. Change it later if you do not like it. No reason to spend unnecessary money.

I am wrong on the rod length. They are stock length and since I have them I am going to keep them for now instead of stroking it. I thought about getting RMbuilders recommendations when I ordered the cam. The 5200 rpm was based of the factory rpm limits which, I think was 5200 rpm. I want to build a good, strong, and reliable motor and not have to turn it hard to make good power. I am wanting to run 75 mph consistently.
