Default Help me pick out the best deep cycle battery

Its a single battery setup Hp500 engine no big stereo setup. I have the optima blue top at the moment but I am very dissappionted with this battery. I have had it for three years and like some of the red tops I have in my cars they just do not last. I guess I expected better quality for what these things cost. So what do you guys recommend for a good replacement?

Interstate batteries are the best IMO...

SeaVolt from West Marine.
I have a set of the Dual Purpose ones in the Fountain for 5 seasons now. Every season I check them with the battery tester and they PASS. Just going to wait till one dies to see how long they will last.

If it is your primary starting battery, then you realy don't want a deep cycle. You really should get a dual purpose marine battery. 3 years is about average for a lot of marine batteries. I would just get an Interstate group 27.

Actually, though I would add a second battery and a battery switch.

Went thru 3 1000A dual purpose batteries in 4 yrs. Never had any luck with them. I read where they are too much of a compromise to be worth it. Switched over to Interstate deep cycle and starting in both my my boats, never another problem. For your application, a regualar starting battery sounds like the best choice.
