Default Up Trim Not Working from throttle control

Need some assistance in figuring this out. The drive is a 98 Bravo 1. I tried to trim the drive up using the button on the throttle, and all I heard was a click. I was able to trace the switch from where the click was coming from, and the wire controlling the up trim is a blue and black (or dark blue) striped wire connected by 2 copper nuts (backing nut and top nut). I noticed the nut was loose going into the switch, so I tightened it. The drive worked for a second, and then click again. I took both nuts off and sanded the stake-on for the wire (it was a little corroded), reassembled, and again, it worked for couple of seconds and then click. Disconnected the ground straps to make sure no corrosion, but they were OK.
So, is that switch bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response, vbot. I kinda figured as much. What is the other solenoid for, the dash mounted button?

If the switch on the dash works fine, then it sounds like a low voltage condition from the trim on the handle.........aka a short or bad wire.
Have someone trim it up on the handle while you jiggle the up wire.
