what lifters did you use in the build?? is it a gen 6 block?? did you get the lifters from bob also??

Ok that is a little different than the 1.5-2ft before fuel pump that I have seen.

or totally washing the plugs off making them look lean when in fact its way rich..had it happen to me on my old corvette supergas car...was just due to intake change..changed the fuel signal to the carb which I had been running..ended up going more than 10 jet sizes down, no other changes other than intake...picked up almost 2 tenths...

i have a very similar problem, mine is not fuel line or pump related. I pulled both motors a few weeks ago and sent one to the fyno shop. should have the results in a week or so. pm me to remind me and ill get you my findings. but i have a pro systems carb (which has never even been close by the way)

I am running a Baja Hammer with the tank immediately in front of the engine, which is a 555 with an 850. I still have the stock Carter fuel pump and the stock fuel line and pickup. It seems like it is performing well (86-87 GPS). Do you think there is more there if I increase the line size and change the fuel pump? Given the size of the boat I tend to only pull top speed for 15 to 30 seconds.

It definitly wont hurt, but the engine can only use so much fuel. If it isnt starving for gas, then you wont gain anything. Fuel psi is important, but volume is also important. Not enough fuel psi and the needle and seat wont open up, and then motor leans out. You can have enough fuel psi to open the needle, and not enough volume to keep the fuel bowls full of fuel at wot.

Sledge,
If you can hold 6+ lbs of FP at the carb, you are good to go. If you are not measuring your FP, you are taking a risk.
