Dry Exhausts with mufflers

Looking for some inspiration. Am building a tall deck 540 motor with KE Cast Aluminium exhausts on a bravo type installation.
I need/want to run a full dry exhaust, but also need to control the noise to avoid getting accused of killing small children and animals.
I don't want to run turn down tips that submerge under water, nor clamp on mufflers that just look a bit of an afterthough.
What I do want is dry tailpipes with built in mufflers, or with a switcheable butterfly near the tip so I can turn it up/down.
Can this be done/has it been done? Anyone got any pics/ideas for inspiration.
Thanks
Matt

Yes, you can have mufflers built directly into the tail pipes. A friend had some on a 36 Skater and with full dry exhaust, he was quieter than my single engine Pantera with wet exhaust. I think they were custom made by Stellings.

+1 for GGB inserts.

Let the lads tell you what length you need to get the sound level you want (mine are 8") and slide them into the tips. Looks great, sounds great and works without stuffing up the exhaust flow or having flaps, levers or contraptions to go wrong.

Where is the best place to buy these inserts?

Chris,
I'm actually speaking with Bob Madara to build a motor very similar to yours - http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...m-builder.html

It's going to be a 555 tall deck with 315cc AFR heads - just trying to work out how to keep it quiet enough now. Bob suggests I need to be going dry exhaust, but need to be sure I can keep it quiet enough.
Cheers
Matt
