Anyone set up for E85 in their boat??

I just sold a tunnel hull jetboat setup for e85. It works awesome when setup properly. Requires larger fuel line that is designed for alcohol. It requires a larger fuel pump as it takes 30-40% more fuel to complete combustion. You also need to use a conversion kit on your carb. Check out
raceone85.com for some more info. This only makes sense to use if your motor would require race gas. It also would destroy any fiberglass gas tanks.

You would want to run you tank empty after every use, it does not keep well. The E10 fuel is bad enough but most of us are forced to use it. I have heard of the tuner guys using it in there turbo cars when they could not find race gas. I do not think anyone here would recomend it in your boat.

What octane does it work out to be? I know there are drag cars that run it with good success. I agree about storage though, it's probably not boat friendly.

It equals 105 or 106 depending on who you ask. There are a number of guys on Performance boats that are making BIG hp with turbo e85 motors.

The octance is in the neighborhood of 105, but it burns much differently than gasoline. There is a much bigger tuning window with e85. I never had any issues with it stayin in my boat, but I only held 20 gallons. It is a great alternative to race gas and makes great power.
