motor is almost back together finally!
We finally got a break in the rain and I found some time to work on my warlock in the past few days. I managed to get most of the motor back together but still need to buy a crossover, figure out the fuel system (I'm thinking electric pump), pipe the exhaust out the back and finish up some misc. odds and ends before I can light it off.
This is what I did to it in the past few days:
crane hyd. cam (228 int./236 exh. duration @ 0.50, 0.530/0.551 lift, 114 lobe seperation)
crane lifters
comp cams 3/8 pushrods
comp cams guideplates and studs
crane roller rockers
aluminum timing chain cover
cloyes timing chain
396 heads (closed chamber, large oval port, hardend seats, s.s. valves)
edelbrock preformer rpm intake
holley 750dp
msd ignition
taylor plug wires
teague aluminum valve covers
rex marine v/c breathers
stainless marine exhaust (gen 2)
I'm hoping to gain approx. 120hp and 7mph (with a possible prop change) from everything I've done. I think those numbers are with in reach. The motor was a stock 454/330hp when I started this project.

How many inches ?
What kind of crank, rods, and pistons ?
What do you think your compression is going to be with those closed chamber heads ?
That engine don't need an electric fuel pump. A good mechanical pump with 3/8" lines would be fine and easier to set up.

stock bottom end unfortunately, my machinist said it should be right a 9.1 with the closed chamber heads. The reason I'm swaying towards an electric fuel pump is because I am also currently building a 502 that does not have a fuel pump boss and don't want to have to do the fuel system twice. I have a stock carter pump that I replaced last summer that I could throw on it if I wanted to but the way I see it....right now is the best time to do the upgrade so I might as well spend the money now.
