Default Sea Water Pumps

Does anyone know who can replace the bearings in a mercury sea water pump?

Thnaks,
Cliff

You can actually. You just pull the ring (Part 13) out and the bearings come out the front. Otherwise most marine shops can no sweat. 1/2 job.

Thank you for your reply. My main concern is removing the hub where the v-belt pully bolts onto and then pressing it back on to right depth so the pully and belt line up properly.

Depends on the pump. If it's like this one you have to use a puller or press to remove part 20 (hub) which the pulley bolts to. Then you have to puncture the seal, part 19 and pry it out. The snap ring #18 is under there and must be removed. Then you press out the shaft with the bearings.

If you have this bracket the pump can be adjusted in the bracket to make the belt line up. If not just measure how much shaft is sticking out the end of the hub before you pull it.

I used a pulley remover at the local auto parts place for free. The shaft & pump were painted the Merc black, so easy to press it back on to the correct position. If not painted scribe a line on the pump side of the shaft. I find this easier than measuring the shaft / hub depth, since you can see it while on the press.

Don't use a marker (even permanent), it will be gone when you need it.

When I brought my parts to my bearing supply store they came up with some metric seal part #'s. I had no issues last summer.
