How do you change a Bravo Lower Unit ?
After draining the oil. What is involved with removing the lower unit?
|
take the nuts off and you are done
Don't forget the one under the anode torque tab. Silver round part about 2" in diameter. Seven total. Last thing don't forget the speedo tube if it is in the foot. Topside of foot in the front.

Thanks Mike,
Are there any shims or seals to worry about? |
no shims
Their are some o rings though.
|
Thanks mike,
Looks like i'll be changing the lower. Lost almost a 1000 rpms at WOT. I think it might be from the nose cone. |
It is really easy Todd... but like mike said... son't forget the bolt under the anode. Been there done that. There are only two o-rings to mess with on the lower 1/2. The drive shaft one is the priority to get right!
Why are you changing the lower? BT  |
I was going to change to lower because I thought the nose cone was causing too much drag.
I now have determined I was sold a 1.36 drive instead of a 1.50. That explains my RPM loss. Now I have too change the whole drive :( |
Sell your prop and buy a smaller pitch prop
to match you 1.36 drive.
|
if your not doing 100 mph get rid of the nose cone also.

stick with 1.5's and loose the cone...tread is correct!
