I was going through the boat to figure out what I need to get done before going out with it in the next few weeks. So, I need advice on two problems I have:

1) While the wiring on the trailer is decent, I want to rewire it. I have wired my trailers before, but the biggest previous one was for a 21' Liberator and I was able to get it locally (I live in a very rural area). This is for a 34' Scarab and I am wondering where I can purchase a good wiring kit with all needed lights. LED or regular bulbs is fine and I would consider each.

2) While finishing up replacing cabin bulbs my oldest daughter suddenly said, "Dad this isn't supposed to happen, right?" I turned to see that she was using her index finger lifting the plexiglass "lens" as it has come loose from the hatch itself! Heck, that might have decapitated me as I never noticed and it has never leaked! I can just see that flying back at my stupid head with my wife seeing Life Insurance $'s flying around. Anyway, I would rather just seal the lens back to the hatch for the summer and maybe replace both hatches this winter. What would you use to seal it?

I realize these are simple and easy questions, but I like to hear as much input as possible before doing things.

Etrailer.com is good place for trailer lights. LED just make a trailer look new and just about all are sealed. No replacing bulbs either. If the hatch is clear I would use clear silicon sparingly to keep a neat job. If hatch is white, I probably use 3m 5200

I just replaced the lense on my hatch. Ordered a new one from pompanette.com and just ordered a tube of the silicone that they use to seal the lense. It is a certain kind of silicone that is used to seal the lense to the frame..

don't use the 5200 on the hatch..makes way to much mess, silocone will be fine

That trailer site is perfect and I have narrowed my choices down to two already.

My lens on the hatch is clear, do you all suggest a particular brand or type of silicone for it and just the normal silicone I can buy at the local hardware store. (Again, I'm in a VERY rural area and we do not have anything like a Home Depot).

What color is your hatch frame? Silicone available at Home depot will be just fine for the hatch...they have silver, black and white...one of those should match. The 5200 has excellent adhesive properties but might be overkill.

Home depot is on-line also.

I bet they send the tube and the caulk in separate packages.
