Default Anybody have lorance

http://shopping.yahoo.com/11696097-m...hsXm7nTRQbFt0A

I dont need anything hard core. Just looking for color screen, something that gives me speed and isnt huge. Been looking around and this unit seems cool.

One thing it seems lowrance gives a lot of their maps out for free by looking on their websites.

Any ideas, thoughts, advice

Default lowrance

I am running the lowrance lcx-27c and while the graphics are not as high res as the newer 3d screens, it gets it done. You can find the 27 and 31 used for a good price. Does sonar, radar, engine data, fuel flow etc.. Also had a smaller lowrance h20+ for the jet ski, cool little unit too just my .02

how are the lowrance maps. They seem to let you download quite a bit without a fee.

I am on lake michigan and inland lakes/ rivers, I don't fish but the detail on the chip I have is way more than I will ever need. If you fish you will love it. The only downfall is as you zoom in for detail, you will wish you had a bigger screen. For general navigation and finding shallows you will be fine.

ok yeah I dont fish. Just looking for depth and sholls and what not. I find it rediculos with garmin that you pay 500-700 bucks for a unit and then your dumping another 150 just to get a map that works.

I have that unit, M68C. I like it. It is very basic in terms of the charts but if you travel at night all of the bouys are there. The depth function works well too. It does have a display that shows speed. I would recommend it.

I think there is an emulator that you can download from lowrance so you can see how it works.
