East Harbor state launch will cost you about $7.00 to launch but you will save that in gas over catawba by the time you idle for 20 miutes to get out of the harbor plus they have lighted parking and workers there during the day i might be around over at PIB and Kelly's if i get my boat back in time

This just in. Due to the sun not being visable for over 5 days and rain during most of this time, Put-In-Bay is now completly submerged. Now all that is visable is the Perrys Monument is now the only visable marker and it is currently just higher than a channel marker.

Last I checked the buoy in the center of Lake St.Clair was registering 40 degrees water temp.

Idle out of Catawba???? or east harbor?

Catawba is a strait shot, no idle whatsoever, and the shortest distance to PIB. Unless you're talking about the one on the harbor side...

We use the one next to the Catawba Island Club.

I go to PIB all the time from Lake St. Clair. I like to dock at the boardwalk since it is nicer, cheaper and that is where the gas dock is. It will probably be full on a week-end though. Get a paper chart. The waters are hazardous. Do NOT enter the harbor from the West (left) like I did here once. The rock line doesn't show up until you super zoom it in. It just looked like shallow water with sand and weeds. All of a sudden there was rock! I was only creeping along and had time to raise the drive but we grounded. We were able to get in the water and lift and push the boat off but the heat exchanger was plugged with crushed shells and the prop was slightly dinged. Had to get towed home. People were watching us and no one shouted a warning. Maybe they think it's funny watching people get in trouble there . The little loop at the bottom of my trail is where we gassed up and went out to see if everything was OK; It was not. That was the only time I've used my TowBoat U.S. coverage. Now I have a sea strainer too! PIB rocks. Have fun.
