On my Velocity- there was an black or orange (I cannot remember at this point) round hatch that could be removed, giving access to the lower hatch motor pin. Removing this pin allowed you to lift the engine hatch about 1 foot. I then had to disconnect the hatch motor power wires. It was a bit tricky to do but otherwise a workable back door.
