so i got my new coupler today and just want to make sure this is indeed what i should be running on my boat since it looks a lot different than my OEM one.
pics below show my OEM coupler (gold colored, aluminum body) and the new one (steel body, all black). this is going on a '90 454MAG making about 457+HP. the new one is way thinner, but its steel. both of them have aluminum splines in the center, my OEM one looks like it was balanced looking at the drilled holes in it, the new one doesnt have any balance holes in it
i got the new one from CP performance, part # is:
525-861523A9 Hi-Performance Mercury Bravo Coupler, link is here for it.
http://www.cpperformance.com/p-14484...o-coupler.aspx
is this the proper coupler i should be running? i cant fit the one coupler they make that has the long "snout" coming out of the end of it.
Thanks!

thats the 1 you need .all the older couplers up till 90 were made of aluminum and most had no grease fittings in them ,to grease the shaft drive had to be pulled .just bolt on and make sure you ck your alignment plenty of spline grease too
