synthetic oil in 500EFI?
#81
Mercury and Volvo Penta make synthetic oils that you can safely run in marine engines too!
Mobil-1 V-twin is high in zddp

What's your opinion on Mobil-1 15w-50 which is popular choice here. Label states it has added zinc.

The best of the best for marine use!
thanks

These oils have the highest zddp...no enhancers to make the oil slick and are proven here on oso to work very well!
High ZDDP marine oils...take your pick....I am using VP and it's great!

FYI, The regular Mobil 1 15w-50 5 quart jugs are out of stock at Walmart, except for what is on local shelves, from what I can tell.
NAPA does have quarts on sale for $5.99
Zinc level in the regular 15w-50 are still fairly high at 1300ppm. The VTwin is 1750ppm. Most other oils are 800-900

... if the cheapskate shoe fits, offer less for it... my advice to you is to drop this, but you got banned last time for not letting something die and starting numerous threads on it... doesnt matter to me, teasing people like you is fun. but its not fair to the moderators... your choice...

So is 15-50 the general consensus then? I don't have a 500efi or a 525 but Merc is still calling out the exact same requirements as listed above with the mercury nmma fc 4 cycle oil as the recommended etc etc.
