If I lived in that area, I would get a enclosed crusier, with a heater, stereo, bar, bathroom and bed. I spend $10,500/year for boat payment, storage and insurance. I live in Texas and only take my boat out about 5-10 times a year. It is hard to justifiy the cost, but I don't have any other hobbies that interests me. If I got rid of my boat, I might as well die.

Not even in the same league. Its hard to believe that Michigan is that much warmer than Washington but its true....

I guess I have to decide if the $6000 I pay each year in payments, storage, insurance and maintenance is enough to compensate for the 6-8 times a year I get to boat.
I guess you missed my point. TO me it doesn't matter what the weather is. We go. Doesn't matter if I am sick or recovering from a surgery we go. Friday forecast for Jobbie Nooner is mid 60s, overcast and rain. We are going.

All I am thinking about is no bikinis, no sun, lots of rain. I wouldn't have a go fast, maybe a Meridian 341 with heat and invite the girlies out in that. More fun than what you are doing now.

I wouldn't mind a little cool and cloudy with the weather we're having in OK right now...but not all summer.

I've been boating in December in Michigan. It was so cold we were wearing snowmobile gear. The lake was starting to freeze up and I had to have someone on the bow to break the ice to get out of the boat launch. If it ain't frozen, we're boatin. The funny part of the story was it was so windy and rough we couldn't see straight, we headed to what looked like a sheltered bay, it was frozen! We were going fast enough that the only thing in the water was the motor. Luckily it was an outboard boat, so the motor kicked out when we went up on the ice. Fortunately the ice wasn't very thick and when we slowed down it broke through and we were able to inch our way out. If you have a better story than that I want to hear it.

I got your point--you go rain or shine, warm or cold. The point I was trying to make is that more often than not when you want to boat its warm outside--50% of your May and June has been over 75 degrees. I guess Im just not the diehard you are! When I boat, I want sun and warmth!

--It sounds like most of you would sell the go fast and buy a cruiser with a cabin, full enclosure and heat! Maybe thats the route I have to go....

I've lived in Seattle all my life and have been boating for the same. Till last year I've had cruisers, so rain... no prob. Now with this Sonic I guess I'll just wear rain gear and freeze my A$$ off. Still being able to make it up to Victoria in 3hrs (I'm guessing) is way better than all day with bigger slower boats. As far as selling the boat and getting an aircraft (as was previously mentioned) it suffers the same fate as boating. My plane sits in the hangar most of the year waiting for good weather. (last year 40hrs flying it)
Bottom line.......If boating is no longer fun for you, do something else that you like. Hobbies should reduce stress not increase it.
